The feature film will re-edit the collaboration between Tomohisa Taguchi (director) and Akatsuki Yamatoya (screenwriter), known for the recent Digimon Adventure: Last Evolution Kizuna.
For now, we only know that the plot will take place two years after Digimon Adventure: Last Evolution Kizuna, and will highlight Daisuke Motomiya, better known as Davis in Brazil.
The Digimon series was originally conceived by Bandai NamcoToei Animation and WiZ at 1997 as a way to capitalize on the virtual pet craze brought on by the Tamagotchi. The franchise focuses on its “Digital Monsters”, creatures that live in a parallel digital world that came from humanity’s technology.
Digimon Adventure: Last Evolution Kizuna is a 20th anniversary celebration that closes the story of the original eight DigiDestined.
Hiromi SekiToei Animation’s original producer on the Digimon anime, worked as a supervisor throughout development, while Katsuyoshi Nakatsuruanother franchise veteran, returned as character designer.
Kenji Watanabe designed the Digimon creatures for the new project, as he did for the previous ones.
