Green Beetle and Kato | The film may have a director of The Invisible Man

According to a report by Deadline, Leigh Whannell‎‎ (The Invisible Man, Upgrade: Update) is in talks to direct Green Hornet and Kato from Universal Pictures.

Studio executives have been meeting with several candidates in recent weeks, but Whannell appears at the top of the list.

Unlike the version starring Seth Rogen and Jay Chouwhich mixed action with comedy, Whannell plans a much more serious action thriller that would work to his strengths.‎

David Koepp (Jurassic Park: Dinosaur Park, Indiana Jones) delivered the first draft of the script earlier this year, and the intention is that once the director is determined, production will be accelerated.

‎It is worth remembering that Universal Pictures opted for the rights to the feature film a few years ago, after the amasiathrough Michael Helfant and Bradley Galloacquired control of the franchise in agreement with representatives of the original creator’s family, George W. Trendle.‎
