Do you want to prevent your PC from connecting to the Internet or perhaps you intend to carry out some tests that require the PC to be disconnected from the network? If you have such a need, you should know that you can prevent your PC from connecting to the Internet disabling the WiFi or Ethernet network card be it.
In old versions of Windows, to disable the network card you had to access the Control Panel and perform several steps. On Windows 11 things have drastically changed, in fact, to completely disable the Wi-Fi or Ethernet network card, just access the app “Settings” and make a few clicks.
Disable the network card from the “Settings” app
As mentioned at the beginning, if you use Windows 11 and want to prevent your PC from connecting to the Internet, you can quickly disable the Wi-Fi or Ethernet network card using the app “Settings”. The procedure to be carried out is as follows:
Disable the network adapter in Windows 11
- Sign in to the app “Settings” by pressing the key combination from the keyboard WIN + I or alternatively click the right mouse button on the Start button and then click on the item “Settings”;
- Click on the entry “Network and the Internet”present in the left side menu;
- From the right screen click on the item “Advanced network settings”;
- Click the button “Disable”present next to the entry “Wifi” or “Ethernet” (the voice changes according to the type of connection you are using).
At the end of the procedure the network card will be immediately disabled and consequently all network connections will also be disabled immediately.
Enable the network adapter in Windows 11
To re-enable the network card in Windows 11, the procedure is as follows:
- Press from keyboard WIN + I to access the “Settings” of the system. Alternatively, right-click on the Start button and then click on the entry “Settings”;
- From the left side menu, click on the item “Network and Internet”;
- Click on the entry “Advanced network settings”;
- Click on the button “Ability”present next to the entry “Wifi” or “Ethernet” (the item changes according to the type of network card present on your PC).
