The manga created by Shinya Umemura, ajichika and Takumi Fukui benefited from the success of the anime adaptation, having surpassed 9 million copies in circulation around the world.

The record of Ragnarok (Shuumatsu no Valkyrie) revolves around a group known as the Council of the Gods, who decide that humanity has no salvation and must be extinguished. Before this catastrophic event can happen, however, the valkyrie known as Brunhild proposes a way to redeem humans: if a group of thirteen warriors from human history can win battles against thirteen mighty gods, then their extinction will be prevented.

These human representatives range from biblical figures like Adam to warlords like Lu Bu. Fighters will face an eclectic group of gods, as well as from different religions and cultures.
