Recently, Chris Bridgeshead of the show’s makeup department, revealed an interesting detail: Ethan Peck didn’t want to shave his eyebrows to play Spock.
“When we see Spock starting on Discovery, he is in a state of madness. The makeup itself was different, because Ethan wasn’t sure he wanted to shave his eyebrows, which would have made the whole process easier. We spent two hours with him every morning. A prosthetic eyebrow would cover his forehead for filming.”
“So (when Star Trek: Strange New Worlds started), I remember sitting down with Ethan and saying, ‘Let’s shave our eyebrows. They will grow back. I promise. As long as you don’t shave or damage the follicle, they will grow back. So he replied, ‘Alright, let’s do this.’ “
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is available in the catalog Paramount+and has now been officially renewed for a second season.
The pilot episode was scripted by Akiva Goldsmanbased on an argument of Alex Kurtzman and Jenny Lumet.
Goldsman, by the way, directed that pilot episode, and alongside Henry Alonso Myersis also set as showrunner.
The plot follows Captain Pike (Anson Mount), Science Officer Spock (Ethan Peck) and Number One (Rebecca Romijn) years before Captain Kirk boarded the USS Enterprise, as they explore new worlds across the galaxy.
